Selling products has been a part of my life and business model for more than 50 years. For many of those years, most if not all of my selling was, "belly to belly" or "face to face." To say that I am a veteran of thousands of sales calls would be an understatement.
And, to think it all got started with this bicycle I wanted. It was 1968 and like almost every 10 year old boy in America, I wanted a Schwinn Stingray with a banana seat and a "sissy bar." My parents couldn't afford that bike and I knew it. My baseball league was giving one away to the guy who sold the most candy. I knocked on doors all summer long. Made hundreds of presentations in my baseball uniform and sold 48 cases of candy (144 pieces per case) and YES I won the bicycle. By then I was hooked on selling! Either in the daylight or the "moonlight" I have SOLD something ever since that's over 50 years of practice.
